Data Centre Services
Data Centre facilities are under increasing pressure to add continuous and reliable computing power whether the Data Centre is experiencing rapid growth, consolidating from multiple locations or trying to extract more capacity out of an existing space.
AIT Partnership Group's Data Centre Division meets the changing demands of the Data Centre environment; from extending the life of existing Data Centres to designing and building brand new ones. Using our own extensive expertise and experience and the strong relationships we have developed with the industries leading manufacturers and consultants we provide our customers with the tools they need to deliver efficiency savings in their Data Centres.
A Data Centre is a dynamic environment with power and cooling profiles that fluctuate throughout the day. Without effective management even the best designed data centre will degrade; hot spots will emerge, asset utilisation will go unchecked and cooling and power capacity will become unpredictable. A £500k server room or £50million Data Centre can both suffer the same problems if the correct processes are not in place to manage and maintain the data centre effectively.
Why use our DCS Division:
- Single point of contact for equipment, consultancy, project management and maintenance
- All our solutions can be fully integrated into your existing IT and Security infrastructure and processes.
- All solutions can be tailored to your needs with a range of solutions to fit all budgets.
- We provide a range of audits and services to improve efficiency without the need for Capital Expenditure.

Data Centre Cooling
Understanding how to move and cool air in a high density dynamic Data Centre is very important to maintaining uptime. Left unchecked, hot spots will lead to unexpected server shutdowns and significantly increase cooling costs. Cooling servers can use more energy then powering them.
Most servers sold today are air cooled, making it vital that the design of your Data Centre ensures that each server is properly located for the correct volume, temperature and humidity of air. In addition AIT Partnership can advise on the many simple low cost management processes that will reduce your cooling costs and advise on the best cooling solution for your Data Centre. These solutions can deliver savings of 30% or more and include;
- Hot-aisle/cold-aisle containment
- Water Cooled Racks
- Free cooling
Power
Managing power in your Data Centre is now vital. The days when Facilities Mangers only worried about distributing power are over and increasingly all areas of the business are being held accountable for their power use. Energy Costs, Carbon Reduction Schemes and the increasing awareness that Data Centres are major users of energy are all driving this change. AIT's Intelligent Power Management solutions provide accurate monitoring and reporting of power use down to the individual outlet and associated device. Using networked power strips with Class 1 metering we can provide billable grade accurate reporting of kWh consumption for each device in your datacenter.
Server plate values have been proven to be too inaccurate and unpredictable to assist with capacity management. Our solutions give you the accurate data you need to make confident predictions on capacity and allow you to reduce the overhead in an N +1 environment. This means you can fit more servers into your existing facility, increase efficiency and save your company a lot of money!
Key benefits provided include:
- Identifying under utilised assets
- Identifying inefficient assets
- Increasing Data Centre capacity
- Accurate billing of energy use on a per asset basis back to your clients and business units
Data Centre Capacity
Data Centre Management and Planning software like nLyte enable Data Centre Managers to visualise and predict conditions, such as cooling and available power and physical space. They also provide work flow automation processes that can be easily customized to fit in with your existing ITIL processes.
Dynamic links between these software tools and and AIT power strips provide a real, live accurate picture of the power used in your Data Centre. This information can be used in a variety of ways including the creation of accurate capacity and provisioning work flows.
Data Centre Space
As part of our complete solution we can provide clients with Data Centre space designed to meet the highest standards.
- Four Data Centres of 252 cabinets each
- Two Data Centre floors at 25kN/m2 plus
- 24 x 7 Security
- Air conditioning

Data Centre Audits
By monitoring specific racks of equipment we can build up a very "granular" picture of Data Centre consumption to provide real time power consumption figures. We can provide accurate (Class 1 meters + or -1%) reporting of server consumption.
This report can be used to identify and improve:
- Data Centre capacity
- Data Centre efficiency
- Business cases for investing in Virtualisation, Intelligent Power or a new Data Centre.
We offer three audit options tailored to your requirements that each provide a comprehensive report.
1. An "Overview Audit" will identify quick wins and areas requiring further investigation.
2. A "Detailed Audit" will give you full documentation of your entire facility, including a complete inventory of all IT assets in dispersed Data Centres and Comms rooms.
3. A "Power Audit" will provide you with a detailed report on power consumption of each rack or asset. This can be done with non intrusive monitoring equipment that does not require a power down.
Racks
Ensuring that your server and network cabinets are fit for purpose at the start of your project will ensure you maximise the space available for the equipment you're housing and ensure proper access and space for expansion in the Data Centre. As well as standard cabinets for housing networking and server equipment, we can also specify bespoke solutions deigned for a multitude of environments including access control, cable management systems, TFT KVM draws and water cooled racks and cold aisle containment units.
Automation
Following the best practice standards defined by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), we enable our customers to automate work flows and processes. This allows our customers to use IT systems to make a real difference to the efficiency of their business. Instead of just generating more information our systems can now form part of an integrated automated response. This means less downtime, better fault prediction, lower energy costs and more efficient use of your IT support teams.
Secure Gateway Remote Access
Being able to manage your data centre effectively often means not physically being there. AIT Partnership provides a range of solutions that allow you to remotely access all the devices in your Data Centre. This includes a single secure gateway to provide a single point of secure access to all devices in the Data Centre at the application, OS and BIOS level. It provides:
- Central authentication, authorization and logging
- Out of Band KVM and Serial access and remote power management
- Integration with iLO, DRAC, RSA, IPMI and RDP,VNC
- A graphical view of both real and Virtualised servers as well as network equipment.
- Virtual Media support.
Using these solutions will help cut down on time spent traveling to site, reduce server down time and improve security by restricting physical access to your Data Centre. Processes can be enforced by checking logs and audit trails.
